New Raleigh Trace is British firm's lightest electric bike yet

16 Aug 2022

This is the new Raleigh Trace, an urban-focused machine that is the long-running British brand’s lightest electric bike model to date.

Available now priced from £2199, the Trace urban e-bike has been designed to look more like a conventional bike than a pedal assist electric machine, with the 250Wh battery built into the frame. It weighs 16.5kg, and Raleigh claims it is “perfect for city life”.

The Trace features a rear hub-mounted Mahle Ebikemotion X35 motor and digital display system. The battery allows for around 50 miles of electric assistance, and can be charged in around four hours.

Raleigh has kept the weight of the bike down by using an aluminium frame with carbon forks. It also uses a Shimano nine-speed gear system with an aluminium crank.

The Trace will be offered in four frame sizes ranging from 42cm to 55cm, and in a choice of bronze or blue colourways. The bike comes equipped with front and rear lights, panniers and mudguards.

The Trace line adds to Raleigh’s fast-growing range of electric bikes. The firm upgraded its best-selling Motus e-bike range earlier this year, and also offers the Centros, Array, and Felix, along with the Eco and Stow folding bikes and the Pro Cargo and Stride 2 cargo bikes.
