Lime and Bikeworks to offer free e-bike and e-scooter training sessions

13 Feb 2023

Shared mobility firm Lime will team up with social enterprise Bikeworks to offer a series of e-scooter and e-bike training sessions for Londoners.

Lime is one of three operators who offer rental e-scooters as part of London’s ongoing trial scheme, and also offers dockless e-bikes in a number of the UK capital’s boroughs. It will offer separate e-bike and e-scooter training sessions in a range of locations in the coming months.

The sessions will be run by instructors trained by Bikeworks, a not-for-profit that aims to tackle social and environmental challenges through cycling. The sessions will last for around two hours, and will cover a range of cycling with confidence and general skills, and how to understand Lime’s geofencing and parking rules.

Lime will provide the e-bikes and e-scooters for the sessions, and all participants will receive a free helmet and promotional codes for a number of free Lime rides.

The first e-bike session will be held at London Fields and Hackney Downs on February 25, with the e-scooter sessions starting in March. Lime and Bikeworks will hold an e-scooter training session in every borough that is taking part in the London trial scheme.

Bikeworks co-founder Jim Blakemore said: "Over the past two years we have written, delivered and refined a training syllabus for both e-scooter and e-cycles. These courses are designed to provide practical experience both on and off road to upskill those looking to integrate new ways to move around the capital."

To meet current laws, all participants in the e-scooter trials must be 18 or over and hold a valid driving licence. You can find and book sessions via the Bikeworks website.
