E-bike firm Vello launches new Bike+ Gears

20 Apr 2023

Austrian mobility brand Vello has just launched a new electric folding bike, the Bike+ GEARS, with the new electric two-wheeler being the first of the Bike+ range to use mechanical gears, of which there are three.

If you’re after something a little more substantial, users will be pleased to know you can also buy the Bike+ GEARS with the Schlumpf Speed or Mountain Drive system that we enjoyed in our review of the VELLO Bike+, effectively doubling the drivetrain to six gears (two x three-speed).

REVIEW: Vello Bike+

The Bike+ GEARS will still use the Zehus rear hub operated motor and battery system, so anyone worried this edition won’t be equipped with K.E.R.S (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) can rest easy. To activate this, simply pedal backwards to allow the motor to switch to regenerative braking, thus increasing the battery’s range from the claimed 75km.

The VELLO Bike+ GEARS retains the popular frame and folding system as other Bike+ models, including a titanium framed option. The Chromo-Moly frame option weighs a claimed 14.4kg and the titanium version 13.4kg.

At a starting price of £2,699 this makes the Bike+ GEARS one of the most affordable offerings from VELLO, and is available to purchase now from their website or retailers.

If you want to see it in the flesh, the Bike+ GEARS will be on display at The Cycle Show this weekend (21st-23rd April) in London.
