The new Polestar 4 coupe-crossover has been previewed ahead of its official debut at the Shanghai motor show later this month.
The Sino-Swedish firm's new model will fill the gap between the Polestar 2 saloon and the flagship Polestar 3 SUV that was revealed at the end of 2022. It will essentially rival the like of the Porsche Macan, which will gain a new electric version this year.
The new image of the 4 shows its badge and front headlight, which is similar in design to the sleek units that feature on the Polestar 2 and 3.
The Swedish brand says the new model will be its fastest production car to date, pairing the aerodynamics of a coupé with the space of an SUV.
It will also feature design cues and sustainable materials previously showcased in Polestar’s concept cars.
“Polestar 4 is not simply a modified version of our first SUV,” said Polestar CEO, Thomas Ingenlath. Instead, we reconsidered the entire design to create a new breed of SUV coupé.”
The Polestar 4 is set to enter production later this year at the firm Ningbo factory in China, where sibling brand Zeekr builds its 001 performance EV.
According to our colleagues at Autocar, the 4 is set to share the Zeekr’s PMA1 architecture, meaning it will likely be available with four-wheel and rear-wheel drive.
Polestar says the 4 could ultimately offer more than 373 miles of range between charges, with the new SUV set to arrive with a £60,000 price tag.
The Polestar 4 will be followed by the 5 performance saloon, with the Polestar 6 GT arriving in 2025 completing a line-up of five electric models.
The 4 will be unveiled at the Shanghai motor show on April 18.
